Prior to October 2010, Skipping4Schools had been working closely with many School Sport Partnerships around the country that had recognised the value of skipping in everyday school life. We delivered skipping programmes throughout their regions enabling creative play, busy playgrounds and increased fitness! Many SSPs recognised that skipping offered a recreational activity that children could play on their own or in groups, in the playground or at home and that consistently offered challenges, no matter how quickly the children progressed!
But budget cuts and difficult choices in the reallocation of school funding have meant that the issue of paying for a skipping day, although on occasion a minor issue, has become more often than not an awkward one to resolve.
And, even with trying to give schools more value for their money through our fun and creative free resources to help sustain skipping, for example as breakfast club or after-school activity, we genuinely do understand that it can be difficult to find funding for our day.
So here are some ideas we have seen and heard, of how to fund ways to make sure we get every child skipping!
We'd love to come and skip at your school, so drop us a line to see if we can help or for more infos.
