There have been many positive strategies posited for countering obesity in children and young people today, but we know for a fact that one of the easiest ways to raise heartrates in a FUN + CONSTRUCTIVE environment is to hand over a skipping rope, put some LOUD music on if you can and get those feet a'hopping, a'jumping and a'skipping!

Even after just a minute of continuous skipping, you will see that children are slightly out of breath, their faces are glowing but they are still smiling and laughing and trying to outdo each other as well as keep outdoing themselves.

We strongly believe that by giving children the tools to take ownership of their personal fitness progression, kickstarted through a Skipping Day and followed-through with our free resources, regular skipping can definitely help schools improve fitness levels for a wide-range of children.

EVERYONE CAN SKIP......yes, they can!

In each of our workshops, we are constantly teaching, demonstrating and challenging children through a progressive series of skills involving duration skipping to boost levels of stamina, as well as learning to combine steps, to keep brains nice and active!

Our days end with a Celebration of Skipping assembly; it's great fun, very loud and is a real showstopper for the whole school at the close of the day! Why not invite parents along to show them how seriously you are taking their childrens' fitness and get them involved in skipping too?!

 How can a Skipping4Schools day help?

Skipping is itself a Fundamental Movement Skill but we also believe that it is a Fundamental Improvement Tool, helping to improve many basic skills.

And it is these basic skills which provide the foundation for excellent performances in many different sports including athletics, rugby, football, netball, badminton, tennis, swimming, dance, gymnastics......the list is endless!

In addition, skipping also provides an activity for those children who may not enjoy the more traditional sports of the curriculum. You will see for yourself that, after one of our days, playgrounds come alive with skipping for weeks and months afterwards!
