Joining Team Super Skippers by entering our Skipping Cup competition can definitely offer schools a path to fitness for the whole school - including staff!
Our Skipping Cup Challenges and Skipping Resources (sent free of charge after a skipping coaching day) are designed as self-referencing competitions, to encourage progression as well as consistency; the challenge is to fill as many scores in, as regularly as possible, NOT to fill as few as quickly as possible or jump over the rope as many times as you can!
Keeping the 'Progress Trackers' somewhere easy for children to access also gives them the opportunity to take responsibility for their own improvement, to practise as often as they like or can. Ownership is, after all, a first big step on the path for self-improvement and an invaluable life lesson for children.
And, as such, we want to motivate children to maintain a that proactivity and consistency - a definite step in the right direction of boosting self-confidence in children who usually shy away from physical activities.
Teachers can also use our Progress Trackers and Assessment Sheets to monitor performance and allocate certificates based on generic improvements. If schools wish to, they could always crown a weekly ‘Top Hopper’. Or encourage your Young Leaders to decide who the ‘Top Hopper’ is; remind them that it’s not always the best scores that can be rewarded but dedication and application also count!
To repeat: you really don’t have to be the best footballer or the best catcher in the school, all it takes is time on the rope to achieve scores. In fact, you'll probably find that, given the opportunity, the younger children may even outdo the older ones!
And it has been said that, with more focus on sport by OFSTED, using our 'Hop to the Top' tracker sheets which chart a child's progession, inspections often like seeing progress monitoring in Physical Education activities.
So join the fun, join Team Super Skippers!
